SibMed 2030

The Priority 2030 program is the largest university development support program in the Russian history, started in 2021. The goal of the Program is to build a diverse cohort of universities that will become leaders in developing new scientific knowledge, technologies and solutions to be implemented in the Russian economy and social sector.

1878

Imperial University

Siberian State Medical University (SibMed) was founded on May 16, 1878 as the only department of Imperial University in Tomsk.

The university became the 9th in Russia and the 1st institution of higher medical education beyond the Urals in Siberia and the Far East

1930

Tomsk Medical Institute

The Institute was merged of 3 departments, namely, the Department of General Medicine, Department of Sanitation and Hygiene and Department of Maternity. Initially, the Institute was formed as a scientific and educational center. Outstanding Russian scientists from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kazan laid the foundation for the development of medical education and research in Tomsk. World leading scientific schools were formed and successfully developed.

1992

Siberian State Medical University

In 1992, Tomsk Medical Institute was renamed to Siberian State Medical University. From that moment, a new chapter of the University development began. Siberian State Medical University not only saved the unique environment of 135 years traditions, but also continued to develop and implement new technologies, improve studying and working environment.
